Persuasive Articles

Okay, I know this is kind of late to be posting these, but I had enough requests for help finding articles that I figured everyone could benefit from looking through these. Also, as you check out the articles, skim over other articles on the same websites or by the same authors--you may find others that work well, too. Here are four, and there are more where these come from.

  1. I thought the first 2 articles posted were really interesting topics and gave great statistics and facts. The first one was about how the rich are just getting richer while the poverty level is increasing daily. The second article is about a women who works for Wal-Mart and is overworked because they don't want to hire more people to pay. She has been an employee for 3 years and gets under $17,000 a year (which is considered high pay), which is difficult when she has a husband and a child. The Wal-Mart family is on top of the Forbes 500 list and they made a profit of 6.6 billion dollars that year. With all of their wealth, they still only pay their workers a little over minimum wage. This lady cant even get health insurance for her child. Both articles are full of logos and ethos because of all the data/stats and emotional appeal used.

    1. This article shows a look inside the life of an employee who works for a large retail corporation. It exposes the ethics and policies these large corporations enforce.

The Wal-Mart article was very interesting, all the statistics and logos, was very interesting, also the emotional appeal in the article made you think about it using quotes from the lady. Did this article pursuede you? Did the retorichal appeals like pathos make you think about the issue?

  3. The article that discussed the "Pink Slime" has made me aware of what these large meat processing plants are hiding from consumers.
